DC Leh, Santosh Sukhdeva, conducted an evaluation of the progress and strategies pertaining to crucial public health initiatives, including the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, National Deworming Day, and the District Task Force on Pulse Polio Immunization on February 17th.
DIO Leh, Dr. Jameela Parveen, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme for the year 2024. The presentation covered essential elements such as the significance of program support, its objectives, global polio case statistics, acute flaccid paralysis, logistical arrangements, manpower planning, and vaccine and cold chain management in Leh district.
Insights were also provided on National Deworming Day (NDD), emphasizing the advantages of deworming children, the involvement of relevant departments, and the availability of Albendazole in the district.
Additionally, Dr. Parveen illuminated the Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccination program, presenting recommendations from IEAG-MR, the surveillance indicators report for Leh District, and the accomplishment of MR1 & MR 2 for the years 2022-23 to 23-24.
DC Leh underscored the importance of ensuring the targeted number of schools, as per UDISE, including colleges, polytechnic institutions, and army schools, and commended all officials of the medical department for their efforts.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including SIO Ladakh, Dr. Iqbal Ahmad; CEO Leh Sonam Wangchuk; Dy CMO Leh Dr. Skarma P. Yontan; DIO Leh Dr. Jameela Parveen, along with relevant officers and officials.
