Delegation from Changthang Region Presents Developmental Requests to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh

On February 25, a delegation from the Changthang region met with Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Raj Niwas, Leh. The delegation, led by Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, congratulated Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) on his appointment and presented several requests. These requests included granting district status to Changthang, the inclusion of Nyoma sub-division for uninterrupted electricity coverage through Northern Power Grid Transmission lines, and the establishment of a separate Tourism Development Authority for Chandigarh to develop tourism-related infrastructure and facilities.

Additionally, the delegation requested the issuance of Actual Line of Control (ALC) certificates to enable youth to avail benefits during recruitment drives, the opening of a Govt Degree College at Nyoma and Durbuk sub-division, rationalization of the wildlife area in Changthang to avoid hindrance in developmental works, and the upgradation of Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Nyoma to Sub-District Hospital. They also requested the continuation of the Changthang Development Package for the benefit of the people of Changthang.

Later, Mohsin Ali, Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil, also met with Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and discussed various developmental issues. Mohsin informed the Lieutenant Governor about the allocation of Rs 1 crore fund to Block Development Councils (BDCs) and Councillors for carrying out developmental activities in their constituencies. He requested to define the roles of the elected representatives and government officials to avoid interference and duplication of developmental works.

Moreover, Mohsin requested the fulfillment of the long-pending demand of the people of Kargil for a full-fledged airstrip for the operation of civil flights. He also requested intervention to improve the telecommunication connectivity in remote villages of the Kargil district. He assured full support and close coordination with the UT Administration for the development of Ladakh.
