Electoral roll revision underway in Ladakh; CEO holds key meeting with political parties

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Ladakh, Yatindra M Maralkar, chaired a follow-up meeting at the CEO Ladakh Office with political party representatives to discuss the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls. The meeting aimed to update stakeholders following the draft electoral roll’s publication on October 20, 2024.

It was shared that the draft electoral roll for the 1-Parliamentary Constituency in Ladakh, aligned with the Special Summary Revision with a qualifying date of January 1, 2025, was published on October 29, 2024. The draft roll is available at designated locations and online on the CEO Ladakh website, www.ceo.ladakh.gov.in, as per the Election Commission of India’s schedule.

The revision process allows claims and objections to be filed from October 29 to November 28, 2024. Additionally, two Special Campaign days are set for November 9-10 and November 16-17, 2024. The finalization of claims and objections will be completed by December 24, 2024, and the updated Electoral Roll will be published on January 6, 2025.

Padma Angmo, Commissioner Secretary of UT Ladakh, has been appointed as Roll Observer to oversee the revision process.
The draft Electoral Roll will be open for public scrutiny at polling stations used in the last Parliamentary election and at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) throughout Ladakh until November 28, 2024.

All eligible citizens of Ladakh are encouraged to review the draft roll. Those whose names are not listed or who will turn 18 by January 1, 2025, are urged to apply for inclusion. For assistance, citizens can contact the Electoral Registration Officer (ADC, Leh) or their respective Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (Tehsildars).

Political parties were advised to promptly report any issues regarding the revision to the Roll Observer, CEO Office, DEO Office, or the ERO to ensure an efficient and accurate revision process.
