Empowering Democracy: SVEEP Campaign Engages University of Ladakh Community

The District Election Office in Leh orchestrated a SVEEP campaign at the University of Ladakh, Taru Thang, on April 1st. The proceedings kicked off with a warm welcome address by Dorje Namgail, the Campus Ambassador of the University of Ladakh.

Dr. Morup, the State SVEEP Nodal Officer, delivered a presentation on applications designed to streamline the electoral process. He delved into the functionalities of the C-vigil app, a digital platform for reporting MCC violation complaints, and introduced the Saksham app, tailored to facilitate the registration process for People with Disabilities (PwDs) by offering customized services. Under a new initiative, PwDs are required to furnish their essential details to the Election Commission through a specially crafted app, conveniently accessible on both Android and iOS devices.

Tajamul Ara, the District SVEEP Nodal Officer in Leh, emphasized the importance of voting in her speech, urging all present to serve as ambassadors and propagate the message.

Dr. Jigmat Dachen, the Dean of the University of Ladakh, spurred students to actively engage in the forthcoming general Lok Sabha elections slated for May 20th.

The campaign encompassed various activities, including reciting the voting pledge, capturing moments at the selfie booth, and endorsing signature campaigns.

The event witnessed the participation of faculty members and students from the university.
