“Meteorological Center Srinagar Empowers Young Girls from Kargil with Training Program”
On June 24, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar organized a one-day training program aimed at introducing basic meteorological observation and forecasting to the young girls of team Stringmo from Kargil, Ladakh. The initiative sought to empower and educate participants by deepening their understanding of weather patterns and forecasting techniques.
During the event, senior officials of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Dr. C.S. Tomar, commended the girls for their enthusiasm and dedication. Their encouragement aimed to inspire the girls’ interest in meteorology.
As a gesture of appreciation and creativity, the girls crafted a stunning mural at the MET office premises, symbolizing their gratitude and newfound knowledge. This collaboration signifies a significant stride in engaging young minds in meteorological sciences and fostering community spirit. It also underscores the importance of integrating youth, particularly girls, into understanding the critical role of meteorological services in saving lives, supporting agriculture, facilitating aviation, enhancing tourism, and aiding pilgrimage forecasts.
