Free Mega Eye Camp Launches Extensive Screening Program in Leh District

On July 7, the advanced screening team of the Free Mega Eye Camp embarked on a 20-day extensive screening camp in the Leh district. The camp, organized by LAHDC Leh and Phande Lekchin Welfare Trust, Leh, in collaboration with the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Nepal, aims to provide free eye care services.

The President of Phande Lekchin Welfare Trust, Leh, Ven. Khenpo Konchok Dorjey, flagged off the first batch of the screening team to Sku-Markha and Wanla areas. Dignitaries and officials from the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Nepal, were also present on the occasion.

Adv Tashi Gyalson, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, expressed his belief that this charitable initiative would greatly benefit people in remote areas, as the screening team is reaching their doorstep. He assured assistance to poor patients in Leh who would require further surgery based on the screening results.

CEC Gyalson shared that the renowned Dr. Sanduk Ruit from Tilganga, along with capable local doctors and paramedics, would perform the Phaco Cataract Surgery. The entire process, including the necessary lens changes, would be provided free of cost.

CEC Gyalson expressed gratitude to Dr. Sanduk Ruit, Phande Lekchin Welfare Trust, Leh, the team from Tilganga Hospital, and the SNM team led by the Director of Health, CMO, doctors, and all the staff involved in the initiative.
