Fresh and Affordable: Departmental Poultry Outlet Opens in Leh, Ladakh

 

Departmental SALE OUT-LET for poultry chicken and eggs has been made available for the general public at Poultry Farm Chanspa Leh from November 4.

Executive Councilor (A/S) LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee in the presence of Administrative Secretary UT Ladakh,(IAS), Ravinder Kumar inaugurated the outlet.
Director, Animal/Sheep and Fisheries departments UT Ladakh, Dr. Mohd Iqbal; Chief Animal Husbandry officer-Leh, Dr. Stanzin Rabgais, and doctors/ officials of the department were present.

Poultry Development Officer Leh, Dr. Shakil Ahmed informed that the department initiated a departmental sale outlet facility for Fresh eggs, brown eggs, Fresh chicken, and Table eggs for the general public. The initiative will check and control the market value of such commodities. Such a facility will open in other parts of the Leh district in the near future and also department proposed to take the initiative at a higher level.

At present the department procured 1.70 lacs of table eggs ($10 boxes) and is also expected to produce 45000 fresh eggs(215 boxes) at the Poultry farm Chanspa Leh besides 3500 Nos of fresh chicken available for the general public.

Approved rates for the essential commodities are as under.
1 Sale of live poultry birds @ Rs 240/- per kg.
2. Table white eggs @Rs 190/- per tray.
3. Brown eggs @Rs 300/-per tray
4 Fresh farm-produced eggs @Rs 330/-per tray.
