Hajj Committee Ladakh Empowers Pilgrims for Historic Hajj Journey in 2023

The Hajj Committee Ladakh organized an orientation/training program for the provisionally selected Hajj pilgrims from the Kargil district for the year 2023. The program took place at the Auditorium Hall in Kargil on May 15.

During the training program, Member of Parliament (MP) Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, addressed the pilgrims virtually and congratulated them. He also commended the efforts of the Hajj Committee Ladakh.

It was announced that a total of 475 applications were submitted from Ladakh for the Hajj Pilgrimage 2023. In a significant achievement, the Ministry of Minority Affairs, which serves as the Nodal Ministry for conducting Hajj pilgrimage in India, approved 456 applications. It is worth noting that the remaining applicants withdrew their applications due to various reasons.

Mohd Ali Majaz, Chairman of the Hajj Committee, UT Ladakh, congratulated the Hajj pilgrims for the opportunity to perform Hajj. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for establishing the Hajj Committee in Ladakh in accordance with the desires and aspirations of the Muslim community in the region.

The chairman also provided an overview of the efforts and achievements of the Hajj Committee Ladakh in facilitating the entire Hajj pilgrimage process, including organizing a special Passport Seva camp in Kargil to streamline passport services, as well as the orientation program.

He mentioned that the approval of all 456 Hajj applicants from Ladakh by the Government of India is a remarkable achievement for the newly established Hajj Committee. He assured that the Committee would continue to strive to serve the Muslim communities in the region.

Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kargil, also addressed the gathering and congratulated the Hajj pilgrims on this great achievement. He provided information on various procedures and protocols to be followed during travel and Hajj.

The gathering also heard from Sheikh Sadiq Rajaae, Chairman of IKMT, Syed Mohammad Shah, President of Anjuman Sofia Noorbakshia Kargil, Zaheer Babar, Member of the Hajj Committee Ladakh, and Hajj Pilgrim Ghulam Nabi Zia, who shared their thoughts on the occasion.

The orientation/training program was conducted by resource persons Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohd Ali. They provided detailed information to the Hajj pilgrims on topics such as vaccination, Covid-19 protocols, required medical documents, accommodation, sightseeing, transportation, communication facilities, foreign currency exchange, and disaster management measures.

The training program also focused extensively on various religious rituals to be observed during the pilgrimage at different important religious sites.

Ulemas and religious leaders from different sects, presidents of religious organizations, Councilor Shargole Mohammad Ali Chandan, along with provisionally selected Hajj pilgrims from different parts of Kargil, were present during the orientation program. The program proceedings were conducted by Habib Ullah.
