“Kargil Authorities Crack Down on Violations: 21 Shops Penalized, ₹16,500 in Fines Imposed

On November 30 in Kargil, a stringent crackdown on non-compliant establishments resulted in the penalization of 21 shops, with a cumulative fine of ₹16,500 levied against the offenders. The targeted inspection encompassed Kiryana shops, tea stalls, chemist shops, vegetable and fruit vendors, as well as bakery shops, spanning from Islamiya School Chowk to Hanfia Masjid Chowk via Old Market Kargil. A total of approximately 105 establishments underwent meticulous scrutiny during this operation.

Notably, two chemist shops faced immediate closure as a consequence of the violation.

As part of the enforcement measures, a considerable quantity of perishable goods was confiscated and subsequently disposed of under the supervision of the authorities.

In the aftermath of the operation, the Deputy SP HQ and Naib Tehsildar Kargil issued stern advisories to all shopkeepers, emphasizing the imperative need to uphold cleanliness standards within their establishments. Additionally, merchants were urged to desist from the display of expired items, ensuring the provision of safe and unspoiled products to consumers.

Furthermore, law enforcement authorities underscored the importance of accountability by mandating shop owners to install CCTV cameras on their premises, thereby enhancing surveillance capabilities and fostering a secure business environment.
