Kargil District Proactively Clears Snow for Uninterrupted Services and Connectivity

On February 4, the District Administration in Kargil took proactive measures to clear snow and maintain seamless road connectivity in the district. The Deputy Commissioner of Kargil directed all relevant departments to mobilize their personnel and machinery to ensure the efficient provision of essential services.

The Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee, Shafqat Ali Khan, reported the successful clearance of 100 percent of roads in the municipal area of Kargil town.

Concurrently, the Mechanical Department in Kargil initiated snow clearance operations throughout the entire district. Mohammed Hassan, Executive Engineer in Kargil, highlighted the completion of priority snow clearance on key roads leading to the 300-bedded hospital and the Council Secretariat in Kargil.

The snow removal efforts extended to various locations, including hospital premises in Shargole and Drass, as well as areas such as Zamastang, Lamar Goshan Road in Drass, and the ongoing work from Sankoo to Barsoo and Sankoo Chumikchan.

Machinery was deployed for LR Marpodoks Saliskote clearance, Kukstay Road in Shargole Block, NH to Bawa Grong Tharumsa Pashkum, Kamutul Thovina road, Tangole Link Road, Gongma Tangole-Analtik link road in Taisuru Block, and ongoing efforts at Hundurman Brok.

The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) initiated snow clearance operations, completing work at packages 1, 2, and 3. The General Manager of NHIDCL in Kargil affirmed the motorability of the Kargil-Zanskar road.

In addition, the Power Development Department (PDD) in Kargil ensured 100 percent power supply in the district, while the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department successfully restored 100 percent access to drinking water.
