Khaltse Zone Inter-School Tournament Wraps Up with Victories Across Sports

The zonal inter-school tournament for high and higher secondary schools in the Khaltse zone concluded on July 22 at Government Higher Secondary School, Khaltse. Organized by the District Youth Services and Sports Department Leh, the tournament saw participation from a total of 12 schools.

Councillor Lobzang Sherab of Khaltse served as the chief guest, with BMO Khaltse Dr. Yangchan Dolma as the guest of honor. The event was attended by teachers, physical education instructors, and students.

In the boys’ handball category, the final match between High School Lamayuru and High School Wanla resulted in a 4-2 victory for GHS Lamayuru.

Councillor Lobzang Sherab encouraged students to engage in sports at both school and national levels, emphasizing the importance of physical education teachers in teaching fundamental sports techniques.

The closing ceremony featured a cultural program presented by female students from GHS Tia.

Results included GHS Tia winning the girls’ Volleyball category and GHS Achinathang winning in boys’ Volleyball. In football, GHS Wanla won among boys while GHS Achinathang triumphed among girls. GHS Lamayuru emerged victorious in boys’ Handball, and GHS Lingshed in girls’ Handball.

In the higher secondary division, GHSS Tingmosgang secured the trophies for both boys’ and girls’ Handball. GHSS Khaltse claimed victory in boys’ Volleyball and girls’ categories of Volleyball and Football.

Individual sports events included a 10km marathon and 100m race, with notable performances from schools such as GHS Lingshed and GHS Achinathang in the high school division, and GHSS Khaltse, GHSS Tingmosgang, GHSS Skurbuchan, and GHSS Biama in the higher secondary division.
