Ladakh Ice and Snow Sculpture conclave begins in Leh

 

Ladakh Ice and Snow Sculpture conclave began at Tak-Namgo, Tsogsti on February 15. Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson presided over the inaugural function as the chief guest whereas Secretary Tourism, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, Councillor Sku-Markha, Sonam Nurboo were the guest of honors.

CEC Tashi Gyalson congratulated and appreciated the dedication and effort of the entire crew of ‘Kangsing team’ for completing the Ice and Snow Sculpture workshop with assistance from various stakeholders including the Department of Tourism and various NGOs. He further added that the Hill Council and the UT Administration are working collectively in promoting such talents at a grand level in the future. He also stressed the need for promoting well-managed, quality winter tourism keeping in view the fragile ecosystem of Ladakh.

He also extended his gratitude to the Govt. of India and LG Ladakh for their tireless efforts in assisting the tourism sector of Ladakh with the introduction of various new initiatives.

Secretary Tourism, Mehboob Ali also spoke about the vision of the Tourism Department in promoting winter tourism and by providing adequate platforms to encourage the young talents and artists of Ladakh. He added that the department will soon release its calendar for the upcoming season which would help all the stakeholders in planning and promoting the sectors across the globe. He also stated that strong development is required in terms of enhancing skills for the youths engaged in this sector.

He added that UT Administration and both the Hill Councils are working on various initiatives and the smooth functioning of tourism-related activities in Ladakh throughout the year.

The crew members of team Kangsing were felicitated along with all the supporters and the participants. The program ended with colorful cultural performances by various young local artists.

Director, Tourism Ladakh, AD Tourism Leh, President Contractor Association Leh, President ALGHA Leh, President WCBCL, and various other officials attended the inaugural function today.
