Mock Drill to Assess Preparedness and Resources for Covid-19 at CHC Sankoo Amid Spike in Cases

In light of the surge in Covid-19 cases in India, a mock drill was conducted at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Sankoo on April 10th to assess the center’s readiness and resources in dealing with Covid-19. The Block Medical Officer of Sankoo, Dr. Ghulaam Hussain, and Consultant Anaesthetist, Dr. Banazeer Khatoon, inspected the available resources at CHC Sankoo, including oxygen plants, ventilators, logistics, and human resources, with a special focus on infrastructure preparedness.

A mock drill is a practice exercise carried out to evaluate how effectively the health department and staff can manage an emergency situation by utilizing available resources and hospital protocols to prevent any chaotic scenarios.

Earlier, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had urged all states and Union Territories to implement a five-fold strategy consisting of testing, tracing, treatment, adhering to Covid-19 appropriate behavior, and vaccination to curb the spread. Additionally, the ministry has advised states to ensure the availability of necessary drugs and logistics for both Influenza and Covid-19 across health facilities, as well as an adequate number of designated beds and health workers.
