Police Station Nyoma Takes Action Against Illegal Liquor Sale, Arrests Bootlegger

On May 28, Police Station Nyoma made significant progress in its ongoing campaign against the illegal sale of liquor in the district by apprehending a bootlegger and confiscating illicit liquor from his possession.

Acting on credible information regarding the unauthorized sale of liquor from a grocery shop in Puga, a police team from Police Station Nyoma conducted a raid at the establishment owned by Jigmet Lundup, son of Morup Dorjay from Angkhong Puga. During the operation, the team discovered and seized 23 bottles of Rum/Whisky, each containing 750ml. These bottles were being illicitly sold, leading to the addiction of unsuspecting individuals.

The accused was promptly arrested, and a case was registered under FIR No. 06/23 at Police Station Nyoma. The investigation into the matter is currently underway.

District Police Leh emphasizes the crucial role of public cooperation in the fight against drug peddling, narcotics, and the unlawful sale of liquor. The community is urged to provide any relevant information that can help save innocent lives from the perils of these illegal activities.
