Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve of Leh spearheaded the launch of the FSSAI Ladakhi Transcript books at the Grand Dragon Hotel in Leh on March 12, aiming to bolster food safety and nutrition awareness. Thamchos Gurmeet, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety of Leh, joined the event alongside other officials.
During the launch, Padma Angmo, Food Safety Officer in Leh, highlighted the availability of the books in Hindi, English, as well as the local language. She provided insights into the three types of books—designated as the orange book, yellow book, and the right-hand book—each containing indispensable guidelines, including methods to detect milk and oil adulteration.
Angmo further elucidated on the comprehensive nature of these resources, emphasizing their role in promoting food safety. In his address, DC Leh stressed the pivotal role of nutrition in fostering a healthy society, citing concerns such as the increasing prevalence of cancer and preterm births. He underscored the urgency to tackle these challenges through proactive measures, highlighting the importance of cultivating physically fit youth and advocating for fortified foods, organic produce, and the Eat Right campaign.
DC Leh also underscored the significance of making informed dietary choices, essential for individual well-being and societal progress. The event saw the participation of various officers and officials from different departments, demonstrating a collective commitment to enhancing food safety and nutrition awareness.
