Secretary PDD reviews pending electricity dues of Govt Departments in Leh

Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD), Vikram Singh Malik, chaired a high-level meeting at the DC Conference Hall, Leh, to review outstanding electricity dues of various government departments and discuss strategies for their timely clearance.

Heads of Departments (HODs) from different government agencies presented updates on their pending electricity bills and highlighted the challenges in settling them.

Emphasizing the importance of financial discipline, Secretary Malik urged all departments to ensure prompt payment of electricity dues to avoid disruptions in power supply and to support ongoing infrastructure development.

Demonstrating the administration’s commitment to resolving the issue, Director, Accounts & Treasuries, Dr. Safdar Ali, announced that ₹20 crore from the Union Territory (UT) funds would be allocated to partially clear the dues. He stressed the need to utilize these funds within the current financial year to streamline financial management and prevent further accumulation of arrears.

The Secretary also directed departments to prioritize electricity bill payments and integrate mechanisms for timely budgetary provisions to prevent recurring delays. He emphasized the need for stronger coordination between the Power Development Department and other government departments to ensure smooth financial transactions and accountability.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Leh; Chief Engineer, PDD; Director, Accounts & Treasuries, Dr. Safdar Ali; and Heads of various government departments.
