Training Session on Chronic Diseases and Heart Health in Kargil

The NGO ‘Every Infant Matters’, funded by the Great Eastern Shipping CSR Foundation, organized a training session for doctors and health workers at the Auditorium Hall in Kargil on June 24. The event was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kacho Liyaqat Khan, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Fatima Banoo, Medical Officers, and paramedical staff.

Dr. Versha Koul, Senior Consultant in Cardiology, and Dr. Sofiya Yousuf, Cardiologist from Batra Heart Center at Batra Hospital Medical Research Centre (BHMRC), delivered presentations on prevalent chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart strokes. They provided detailed data analysis, highlighted the causes and consequences of these diseases, and emphasized preventive measures to combat them.

The experts emphasized the importance of raising awareness about heart health, the significance of regular exercise, and essential measures like CPR for heart patients in emergencies. They also focused on the most vulnerable sections of society.

The medical and paramedical teams actively engaged with the experts, raising queries and concerns that were thoroughly addressed.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kacho Liyaqat Khan expressed gratitude to the experts from ‘Every Infant Matters’ and their founding members Dr. Radhika Batra and Dr. Shelly Batra. He shared his experiences in the medical field, suggested additional training sessions specifically targeted at medical staff, and urged medical personnel to disseminate this crucial information among their peers and community members to potentially save lives of heart patients.
