On January 12, the LAACL Hall in Kargil became the venue for commemorating National Youth Day on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s 161st birth anniversary. The event was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Kargil in collaboration with Digital Computer Centre Kargil, under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The highlight of the event was a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on National Youth Day, where participants eagerly absorbed his insightful words. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcoming speech from Jigmat Spaldon, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra Kargil.
Councilor Taisuru, Abdul Hadi, expressed gratitude to NYK Kargil for organizing significant events that benefit the youth and highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. Councilor Saliskote Mohd Sajjad emphasized the inspirational life of Swami Vivekananda, encouraging students and youth to draw inspiration from his teachings.
The event also featured special lectures on Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings by students from the Digital Computer Centre. National Youth Day, also known as Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, is celebrated across India on January 12 to honor the influential spiritual leader and thinker.
As part of the celebration, the chief guest and guest of honor jointly flagged off 25 My Bharat Volunteers, trained by the Traffic Department. These volunteers are poised to play a crucial role in traffic management during the upcoming road safety week from January 11 to January 17, 2024.
